Sarah

Originally named Sarai, The Lord renamed her Sarah, meaning princess, after she had married Abraham (see also On His Own Two Feet). Sarah became the mother of Isaac (see also Isaac's Faith And Obedience and Isaac and Ishmael) and through Isaac the grandmother of Jacob, who God renamed Israel. Sarah is therefore one of the ancestors of all of the Israelites, and of Jesus Christ. In God's Own Words:

"And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her." (Genesis 17:15-16 KJV)

"I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her"

Sarah was about ten years younger than her half-brother Abraham (they had the same father, but different mothers, see Genesis 20:12). They were married before they left Ur, located in what is today southern Iraq (i.e. both Abraham and Sarah were Iraqi, an incredible irony considering the state of Middle East tensions today) for a journey, under The Lord's guidance, to a new land that would become the focus of God's plan of salvation for all of humanity (Genesis 11:29-31).

Tomb Of The Patriarchs In Hebron When Abraham and Sarah remained childless into their old age, Sarah took it upon herself to have children through a surrogate, her Egyptian handmaid Hagar. Sarah made the arrangement despite the Lord's earlier promise to Abraham that he would have children through Sarah (see Genesis 17:15-16, quoted above). The result of Sarah's initiative with Hagar was that Hagar also had a son of Abraham, Ishmael, who became the progenitor of many of the Arab people of today. The family conflict between Sarah and Hagar, and their sons Isaac and Ishmael, never ended; the struggle between them continues to this very day.

Sarah lived to the age of 127 years (the only female in written Bible History in which her age at death is recorded) and died at Hebron, southwest of Jerusalem. Abraham bought a burial cave (see Machpelah) from the Hittites, and Sarah was interred there (Genesis 23:1-20).

Eventually, Sarah's tomb was expanded and used as a family burial place, including not only Abraham, but also for their son Isaac and his wife Rebekah, and then later their grandson Jacob (Israel) and his wife Leah (Genesis 49:29-32). They all remain there to this day, awaiting their Resurrections.

How To Receive Your Daily Bible Study CD
(Please read carefully to understand how and why the CDs are available)

This ministry web site, with thousands of Bible studies (including a new study added every day, 365 days a year) is always freely available for everyone. As such, this Daily Bible Study has become a very expensive time and financial commitment for the author and the publisher. Every study, that takes you only minutes to read, takes many hours of work to write, format and technically make available and maintain on the web server. Without help, it would be impossible for this Daily Bible Study web site to continue. That is the simple reality of the situation.

Unto All The World We are not "selling" CDs. The CD is our humble thank you gift to the faithful who realize the importance of making Bible-based Christian teaching available to "all the world" as Christ commanded His servants to do. The map is an actual Daily Bible Study server statistics "snap shot" of visitors to Daily Bible Study at 7 am local time recently. The green bars represent the percentage of visitors to the web site (where on the planet requested pages were being sent to) at that moment in the entire time zone directly above the green bar. The graphic constantly changes through the day like a rolling wave across the world's time zones.

The Daily Bible Study Library CD is not for sale. The Daily Bible Study Library CD is produced as our thank-you gift to each person who actually makes a minimum $10 donation (in US, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollars, or 5 UK Pounds, or 5 Euros) to help this ministry to survive. The $10 / 5 Pound / 5 Euro minimum is required because it is the "break-even" cost of producing, handling and mailing the CD - amounts less than $10 / 5 Pounds / 5 Euros are therefore not a donation to this ministry but actually cause an unaffordable financial loss to the author.

The Daily Bible Study CD functions with Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP. The directly-readable CD is designed to be easily and instantly portable from computer to computer. The contents are formatted to appear the same as the online Daily Bible Study web site and will automatically open by means of your computer's standard browser. Complete instructions are included with the CD.
