Green Light?
"For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers [see Why Were You Born?]. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." (Romans 8:29-30)
"In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession - to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:11-14)
Red Light?
"While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that Name you gave Me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled." (John 17:12) (see also Prophecy)
"For certain men whose condemnation was written about [Or men who were marked out for condemnation] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." (Jude 4)
Choosing From Those Who Have Chosen For Themselves
God gave humans complete liberty to go our way, or The Way. We can choose to accept, or reject, His offer of eternal life. The choice is ours.
God knows the future as well as the past. With that foreknowledge, God can choose, far ahead of time, those who will occupy "winner roles" from those He knows will have chosen life for themselves e.g. John The Baptist, and those who will occupy "loser roles" from those He knows will have chosen death for themselves e.g. Judas Iscariot.
Each of us has complete control of our own fate. It isn't all a "done deal" before we were ever born, as declared plainly in God's own Words -
"If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, he will die for it; because of the sin he has committed he will die. But if a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will save his life. Because he considers all the offenses he has committed and turns away from them, he will surely live; he will not die. Yet the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' Are my ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust? Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! (Ezekiel 18:30-32)
