By The Book - 2 Kings

1. What is the name of The Lord's powerful prophet who was sent to rebuke King Ahaziah? (2 Kings 1:3) (see Kings of Israel and Judah)

Elisha Watching Elijah In A Chariot Of Fire 2. How did Elijah depart after the completion of his ministry? (2 Kings 2:11)

3. Who succeeded Elijah? (2 Kings 2:15)

4. How did Elisha help the widow of one of the prophets who was being pressured by creditors? (2 Kings 4:1-7)

5. Did Elisha, through the power of The Lord, ever restore a dead person back to life? (2 Kings 4:32-37)

6. Did Elisha, through the power of The Lord, ever miraculously multiply a small amount of food so that it fully fed 100 men? (2 Kings 4:42-44)

7. What was the heavy metal object that Elisha, through the power of The Lord, made to float on the water? (2 Kings 6:5-7)

8. Who was the last king of the northern kingdom of Israel? (2 Kings 17:1-6)

9. Where were the people of the conquered northern kingdom of Israel taken? (2 Kings 17:6) (see Ancient Empires - Assyria)
Note: These conquered tribes of the northern kingdom of "Israel" with their capital at Samaria were thereafter lost to the eyes of history and are today known as the "Lost Ten Tribes" of Israel. After they were taken away, only the southern kingdom of "Judah" remained, with their capital at Jerusalem.

10. After the northern tribes of Israel were taken into exile, who did the Assyrians bring in to resettle Samaria? (2 Kings 17:24)
Note: These gentile people became known as Samaritans, one of the most famous of which is the "good Samaritan" of Luke 10:33-35.

11. What was the name of the Assyrian king who attempted to conquer the southern kingdom of Judah? (2 Kings 19:20)

12. What happened to the 185,000 Assyrian troops who attempted to capture Jerusalem after they had been arrogantly blaspheming The Lord? (2 Kings 19:35) What happened to the Assyrian king himself after that? (2 Kings 19:37)

13. Who eventually conquered the southern kingdom of Judah? (2 Kings 25:1-7,21) (see Why Babylon? and King Nebuchadnezzar)

14. Was the original Temple in Jerusalem looted and destroyed when the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem? (2 Kings 25:13-17)
Note: This was the destruction of the original Temple, built by Solomon (see Temples), when The Ark Of The Covenant, containing the 2 tablets of stone with The Ten Commandments written on them, went missing. Many believe that the Ark was safely hidden by its Levite (see Levites) caretakers somewhere in or near Jerusalem just prior to the Babylonian captivity, and that it will one day be found by archaeologists - a number of whom are today actively seeking it (see Temple Mount Treasures).
