Fools For Christ

Every day, all sorts of email arrives for Daily Bible Study. We always enjoy hearing from you with your comments, questions, or whatever you wish to write about. Our mail has always been 99% positive, however we do occasionally receive something that is somewhat on the negative side. A 3-sentence email received during this past week is an example of those very-few unfortunate ones -

"You are stupid people. Only fools would believe in such [expletive deleted]. There is no stupid god."

Sunrise The writer of the email was of course entirely correct about one thing - there is no stupid God. There is however an all-wise, all-knowing, all-powerful God and Creator Who has much to say about what being a fool really means -

"The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." (Psalm 53:1)

"A fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in his own opinions." (Proverbs 18:2)

"The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in darkness." (Ecclesiastes 2:14)

"Because your sins are so many and your hostility so great, the prophet is considered a fool." (Hosea 9:7)

The apostle Paul, who was once one of the most hostile enemies of Christian people, became one of the greatest Christians of all history. His writings now provide us with a very large part of the New Testament. After his conversion On The Road To Damascus, he was often called a fool by others whose own time of awakening had not yet come.

Paul's response?

"Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's Sight." (1 Corinthians 3:18-19)

We here at Daily Bible Study do hope that our friend who wrote the email will one day see the wonderful Truth of Christianity - the only Way to Life. And who knows? We might even have another "Paul" in the making.
