Since the Roman empire (see Ancient Empires - Rome and Daniel's Statue) rose to greatness after the Old Testament (see Old Testament Fact File) section of Bible History had been completed, references to Caesar are found only in the New Testament (see New Testament Fact File):
As A General Title
"They cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!" [see How Did Jesus Christ Die?] Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." (John 19:15 RSV)
"And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brethren before the city authorities, crying, "These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has received them; and they are all acting against the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus." (Acts 17:6-7 RSV) (see Jesus Christ)
"But Paul said, "I am standing before Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried; to the Jews I have done no wrong, as you know very well. If then I am a wrongdoer, and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death; but if there is nothing in their charges against me, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar." Then Festus, when he had conferred with his council, answered, "You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go." (Acts 25:10-12 RSV) (see Paul's Journey To Rome)
Specific Caesars
"In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod [see The Herods] being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John [see John The Baptist] the son of Zechariah in the wilderness; and he went into all the region about the Jordan [see The Jordan River], preaching a Baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins." (Luke 3:1-3 RSV)
"Now in these days Prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world; and this took place in the days of Claudius." (Acts 11:27-28 RSV)
