Abraham And The "Tradition Trap"

Abraham was one of the most righteous people of Bible History, but his righteousness didn't come automatically, or by inheritance. Abraham's father Terah was an idol-worshipper (see Images and Idols), in a long-established "it all just seems so right" family religion that Abraham was brought up with, but did not continue. Although there are many very good traditions, there are also traditions that imprison people in error, for generation after generation. The Truth set Abraham free from his family's "tradition trap," and transformed him from just another "statue worshipper" to righteous Abraham, the father of the faithful (see Abraham, Man Of Faith).
