Antonius Claudius

Antonius Claudius, known to Bible History by his given name Felix, was the Roman procurator (governor) of Judea (see Ancient Empires - Rome) for a few years in the time of the early Christian church. Like the Roman emperors that he served (see New Testament Roman Emperors), including Nero, Felix was a corrupt and brutal man. His appearance in The Bible record takes place in Caesarea, where the apostle Paul was brought before him for trial after his arrest in Jerusalem. Occasionally seated with Felix during the course of the "trial" was Drusilla, the daughter of Herod Agrippa (see The Herods), who had accepted an invitation from Felix to leave her husband, the king of Emesa, to become his adulterous wife.
