The Unpardonable Sin

"For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they then commit apostasy, since they crucify the Son of God on their own account and hold him up to contempt. For land which has drunk the rain that often falls upon it, and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed; its end is to be burned." (Hebrews 6:4-8 RSV)

The Lake of Fire Humans Are Sinners

With the exception of Jesus Christ, every human that has ever existed was, or is, a sinner. The very best Christians are all still sinners because they are all still very much human. Claiming to be without sin is itself a sin! (1 John 1:8-10) (see also "No Business Being A Christian")

The apostle Paul was one of the greatest Christians that has ever lived, a man who actually wrote much of the New Testament, and yet at the same time, he honestly and openly admitted that he, like all humans, was a sinner:

Paul however was forgiven for his human weakness that caused him to sin. He was sorry, he repented, and was forgiven. There is no limit to God's forgiveness for the repentant.

Not A Christian Without The Holy Spirit

Humans can only become true Christians by means of the Holy Spirit of God, the spiritual light that makes genuine repentance and correct understanding possible.

Those Who Know Better Must Then Do Better

The Lake Of Fire - Defiant Sinners

On the other hand, true Christians who sin deliberately, not out of human ignorance or weakness, but knowingly and defiantly, with a conscious refusal to repent afterward, are another matter. They are rejecting the sacrifice that the Savior made for them, and God's offer of eternal life. Such people, by their own choice of behavior, are sentencing themselves to the lake of fire.

The Lake of Fire - Blasphemers Of The Holy Spirit

Some, if not all, of the Pharisees knew that Jesus was of God (John 3:1-2), that the Holy Spirit of God was in Him, and yet there were those among them that wickedly accused The Savior of having a demon - they knowingly blasphemed God's Holy Spirit.

But, despite knowing that Jesus was of God, they told the people that He was of the devil:

Their condemnation was their own doing -
