• During the Israelites' Wilderness Journey, after Eleazar's two older brothers, Nadab and Abihu, were put to death by The Lord (see Rock Of Ages and The Logos) for their disobedience (Leviticus 10:1-2, Numbers 3:4), he was designated to follow his father as high priest (Numbers 3:32).

• While Aaron was alive, Eleazar served at The Tabernacle In The Wilderness together with his brother Ithamar, however Eleazar was given added responsibilities, such as in the sacrifice of the red heifer (Numbers 19:1-4).

• When the time came for Aaron to die, on Mount Hor Eleazar's uncle Moses removed the sacred vestments from Aaron and placed them on Eleazar (Numbers 20:22-29).

• Eleazar married a daughter of Putiel, who gave birth to Phinehas (Exodus 6:25, 1 Chronicles 6:4).

• Eleazar assisted Moses in the census (Numbers 26:3-4) and in the later transfer of leadership from Moses to Joshua. He assisted Joshua in distribution of the Tribal Lands (Joshua 14:1).

• The office of high priest continued through Eleazar's descendants until Eli, but was later restored to Eleazar's line with Zadok (1 Samuel 2:30-36, 1 Kings 2:26-35).

• Eleazar died not long after Joshua, and was buried at Gibeah on a hill that was owned by his son Phinehas (Joshua 24:33).
